What we started with
This North Vancouver home had an old back deck and a side walkway that had both become safety hazards, and uneven pavers around the yard. We were already working inside the house on electrical and plumbing upgrades, so the homeowner asked us to take on the exterior as well.
What we found and how we handled it
Before disturbing any interior finishes, we had a hazardous-materials survey done. It came back clean, so the work went ahead without remediation. Outside, we photographed and documented the existing damage along the side of the house before building the new walkway over it.
What we did
- Replaced the back deck.
- Built a new side walkway on a compacted gravel base over landscape fabric.
- Lifted, re-based and relaid the pavers, and completed a new front paver path.
- Inside: electrical and plumbing work, drywall and baseboards.
The exterior work was done by our own crew rather than subcontracted.
How long it took
The exterior work took about three weeks in September 2026.
How it turned out
A safe back deck and walkway, level pavers around the house, and one contractor handling the inside and outside of the job.
